Hockey is expensive, and goalie equipment tops the list, which makes a donation of 55 sets of keeper equipment to communities throughout Ontario greatly appreciated.

The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO), the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) and the Northern Ontario Minor Hockey Association (NOHA) announced this season’s minor hockey association recipients of a set of brand new goalie equipment as part of the ‘OMHA/NOHA IBAO Goalie Assist Program,’ handing out 55 sets of equipment.

“I think that I can speak for all of the OMHA in saying how appreciative we are being part of the IBAO Goalie Assist Program,” said Rob Ring, President of the OMHA. “By providing much needed goalie equipment, the IBAO Goalie Assist Program will allow many of our youngest hockey players to take the first step in achieving their dream of becoming a goaltender. This program will also help the local Minor Hockey Associations by providing them with goaltender resources to assist their coaches and in providing these young goalies with the best coaching available.”

The OMHA/NOHA IBAO Goalie Assist Program is an effort to support children who have dreams of becoming a hockey goaltender, by providing a set of hockey goaltending equipment to 5‐7 year old players interested in trying the position.

In addition, IBAO will provide minor hockey associations with goaltending resources to aid coaches.

“We are thrilled to announce the recipients of the Goalie Assist Program,” said IBAO President Chris Floyd. “IBAO is proud to support this great provincial group focused on building and growing the skills of youth in our communities.”

NOHA President John Jamieson echoed Ring’s appreciation for the donation.

“I would like to first thank IBAO for helping the Associations in the NOHA by offering this program to help outfit a young child or children who may want to take up the position of goaltender,” said Jamieson. “This offer will allow the young player the opportunity to see if this is a position they would be interested in without the cost being put on to the parents. We are grateful for the great donation from the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario.”
