AXA XL has named Alex Barker to serve as the leader of the company’s aviation insurance business in Canada.

In his new role, Barker will report to AXA XL chief underwriting officer of Americas aerospace Eric Donofrio, as well as newly appointed AXA XL Canada country manager Renato Rodriguez.

Barker rejoins AXA XL from Marsh and McLennan, where he served as senior vice president of the firm’s aviation business. He previously worked at AXA XL as a senior underwriter for the largest Lloyd’s syndicate and was leading one of the top three global aviation portfolios. Barker is a certified General Insurance Agent and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute. He has a Masters degree from Manchester University, England.
