Beazley Canada has named Jo-Anne Hawthorne as the company’s new territory manager for eastern Canada.

Hawthorne will be responsible for cultivating relations with brokers in Ontario, Atlantic Canada, Ottawa, and Quebec – with the aim of building Beazley’s book of business across its specialist product lines in the region, a release said. She will report to territory manager Cheryl Hobbs.

According to Beazley, Hawthorne has “extensive experience of underwriting specialist insurance products in the Canadian market,” which includes professional liability, errors & omissions and corporate risks. She also maintains a track record of growing profitable portfolios of business.

“We have ambitious plans to grow Beazley’s presence in Canada through existing brokers and through new intermediary relationships and across our existing product range as well as new products we will bring to the market.  Jo-Anne’s experience and knowledge of the market and her extensive network will play an important role in helping us achieve these plans,” said Hobbs.

Last year, Beazley acquired specialist MGA Creechurch Underwriters, now doing business as Beazley Canada. Since 2017, the Beazley Canada team has expanded its insurance expertise in industries such as cyber risk and data breach, environmental liability and technology and media.
