iA Financial Group paid out $4.3 billion in claims last year, which corresponds to $82 million per week and also donated $3.9 million, equivalent to roughly $765 per employee, to close to 500 causes, according to its 2015 Social Responsibility Report, which describes the Quebec-based company's environmental, social and governance-related commitments and achievements.

According to the report iAs United Way-Centraide campaign raised a record-setting total of $1,230,490, the third consecutive time the carrier has broken the million dollar mark.

Other achievements highlighted in the report included a striking improvement in the recovery rate of waste materials, which now clocks in at a rate exceeding 83%, up from 72% in 2012; a reduction of almost 40% in greenhouse gases arising from business travel; and an investment of $253 million in renewable energy.

The company also received two BOMA 2015 Toby Awards for the environmental quality of the company's head office in Quebec City and the building located at 2020 Robert-Bourassa Blvd in Montreal.

The report also discloses that the company paid $464.8 million in salaries and employee benefits in 2015, as well as $184.1 million in federal, provincial, and municipal taxes.

“There is no doubt in our minds that our approach and actions must be guided by an overall vision to ensure the consistency and effectiveness of our organization with regard to social responsibility,” said iA president and CEO Yvon Charest. “As a sustainable company, we create economic value, a sound business environment, and strong ties with communities.”
