Commonwell  Mutual Insurance Group has awarded a total of $100,000 to students for sharing the lessons they have learned over the pandemic-driven lockdowns.

The contest was first announced in July. High school graduates were invited to submit creative videos showcasing the valuable life lessons they learned outside of the classroom. Commonwell Mutual selected 100 winners who each won $1,000, which will be applied towards their post-secondary education.

While many of the high school graduates who participated in the contest focused on sharing lessons related to mental wellness and staying positive, all contestants had something to say about the “real” state of things as they enter into post-secondary education amid a global outbreak, Commonwell Mutual noted.

“There is no doubt that this generation of Ontario teens graduating high school in 2020 are facing completely unique, unforeseeable and unprecedented challenges,” said Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group president and CEO Tim Shauf.

The winning video entries are all available to view on Commonwell Mutual’s website.
