The Canadian Regulatory Technology Association (CRTA) – a non-profit group which brings together various regulatory stakeholders to solve industry challenges – has welcomed a new member to its board of directors.

Matt Fowler joins CRTA’s board of directors replacing Wendy Rudd, who transitions into the role of strategic advisor for the organization.

“Matt broadens our board by bringing further machine learning expertise and hands-on experience in the ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) as a result of his most recent role with TD Bank supporting the integration of, and deployment of solutions built by, Layer 6, TD’s AI division,” said CRTA founder and board chair Donna Bales.

Bales also expressed the board’s appreciation for Rudd’s offer to continue serving the group as a strategic advisor.

Rudd will join the CRTA’s cohort of three other strategic advisors – Mike Ecclestone, senior director of financial risk management at KPMG Canada; Tina Mithra, founder and CEO of Genesis Risk Consulting; and Eleanor Morrison, managing director of credit and market risk technology with TD Securities.

CRTA enables stakeholders in the regulation technology ecosystem – regulators, regulated entities, and tech firms – to facilitate dialogue, raise standards, and promote growth. The group also supports the use of technology to make compliance easier and more efficient.
