The Desjardins Group announced Tuesday its new management team. The financial group hopes that the team can help elevate the organization while keeping it accessible to its clients.

In a release, the group stated that through the new management structure, it hopes “to be known for being simple to do business with, people-focused, modern and high-performing.”

A total of nine executives were appointed into the management team with new roles.

Among the nine was Denis Dubois, whom Desjardins has appointed as Senior Vice-President, Property and Casualty Insurance. In addition to his new role, Dubois will serve as co-president of Desjardins General Insurance Group along with Sylvie Paquette until the end of the year to ensure a seamless transition for the business line.

Denis Berthiaume, the current Senior Vice-President and General Manager of Wealth Management and Life and Health Insurance of the group, was named Senior Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer by Desjardins. In his additional role, Berthiaume will supervise the organization’s overall operations. He will report directly to President and CEO Guy Cormier.

Berthiaume will continue his roles as Senior Vice-President and General Manager of Wealth Management and Life and Health Insurance on an interim basis until someone is appointed to succeed him.

“Over the course of his career with Desjardins, Denis has taken on key management roles, with Desjardins Financial Security in particular. He’s a team player and I have great faith in his ability to carry out the mandate I’ve given him,” commented Cormier on Berthiaume’s appointment.

“As President and CEO, I want to first and foremost focus my attention on defining our cooperative’s key priorities and mobilizing our people – the elected officers and employees who help keep our cooperative moving forward each day. I’m also going to make sure we continue to fulfill our role as a socio-economic leader in Quebec, Ontario and the rest of Canada to the best of our abilities,” Cormier further stated.
