In recognition of the need for mental health support during the COVID-19 pandemic, Economical Insurance has announced that it will lend support to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA).

The insurer has donated $100,000 to the CMHA, to fund the association’s BounceBack program. The donation also coincides with Economical’s 150th anniversary, and is part of the company’s ongoing Community Giving Program.

BounceBack is a free program designed to help Canadians build skills to improve their mental health. The program teaches participants how to manage things like low mood, mild to moderate depression and anxiety, stress or worry. Participants can customize their own program by selecting from a combination of telephone coaching sessions and skill-building workbooks, to enhance their mental wellbeing.

“As the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to place pressure across our communities, support for proven mental health programs like BounceBack is essential,” said Economical Insurance president and CEO Rowan Saunders. ““People are at the heart of all that we do and we're proud to support an increased focus on mental health and the well-being of Canadians.”

Saunders added that Economical’s donation will allow CMHA to continue to provide such a vital program to Canadians during the national crisis that is the pandemic.
