A 19 year-old Pennsylvania man must have always dreamed of becoming a police officer, because he was caught impersonating a trooper and running a fake drunk driving checkpoint at 4am on state Route 601.

Logan Shaulis was so committed to the shtick that he actually set up road flares on the public highway and required at least one motorist to present his driver’s license, registration and insurance documentation, reports WTAJ. He claimed to be Steve Rogers, the civilian name of Marvel’s Captain America.

Ironically, Shaulis himself was drunk throughout the whole ordeal.  He donned handcuffs and a portable scanner when he was eventually seized with bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.

And when actual authorities did arrive at the scene, Shaulis tried to pass off a BB gun to the car at checkpoint’s passenger and reportedly told the occupant, “I can’t get caught with this.”

The town’s police chief warned residents that it is unlikely that a DUI checkpoint will ever consist of only one state trooper, stating, “You can see as many as 18 officers being required to be involved in a checkpoint."

Schaulis now faces a host of felony and misdemeanor charges, including impersonating a public servant, public drunkenness and illegal possession of a firearm. He awaits a June 9 preliminary hearing.
