One of the key founding members of Canada’s fastest-growing surety insurers chose Canada Day to call it a day.

Bob Taylor, who along with John Garner and Mike George formed Trisura Guarantee, is retiring from the day-to-day activities at the company following almost 40 years in the industry.

A former co- president and CEO with Mike George – later moving into the role of chairman – Taylor has decided to “spend more time with family and friends,” but will continue to be involved in the company in his current capacity as board chairman.

After several years with Procter and Gamble, Taylor joined the Guarantee Company of North America in 1975, later moving on to found Wellington Guarantee in 1989 – which later became London Guarantee in 1995.

London Guarantee grew into a prominent specialty lines insurer with Taylor at the helm as CEO, until its sale to St Paul in 2002.

In 2005, Bob joined with John Garner and Mike George to form Trisura Guarantee, which opened its doors in 2006.

“Bob has been a role model and mentor to many in the insurance business,” says Mike George, CEO of Trisura, “and is living proof that decency, fairness and integrity are values that can help an organization succeed, thrive and grow.”

According to Taylor, he and his wife Fran plan to spend more time summering at their Ontario cottage and escaping the cold at their Florida condo during the winter.
