Partnerships abound for global broking network company Brokerslink after it established a new regional team to oversee its efforts in assisting broker partners and affiliates in the Americas.

The steering team will focus on supporting the expansion of the network and Brokerslink brand across the region, and will also help maximize business opportunities for partners and affiliates in the Americas, reinforcing communications between them and assisting in the creation of new niche products and services.

The team features a familiar Canadian face – Shawn DeSantis, president and CEO of Navacord, who will represent Canada on the regional team. The commercial brokerage today sells more than a billion dollars in premium across Canada and joined Brokerslink in 2019 to help fuel further growth.

“One of our propositions to our clients has always been to be able to handle their insurance needs wherever they go globally, and as we got bigger that need for us continued to grow,” said DeSantis. “We did a bunch of research on global organizations that have capability to do placements in other countries and Brokerslink stood out for us.”

The decision to join Brokerslink was also fuelled by the fact that more Canadian businesses are making a decision to invest capital in other countries. In turn, they want to make sure that their assets are being protected.

“The ability for us to have a strong broker partner in whatever country we deal with that’s part of the same organization network as us and has the same values was important,” explained DeSantis. “The other benefit of Brokerslink for us is a lot of foreign companies are investing in Canada, and the ability for us to service those clients on behalf of Brokerslink was important for us as well.”

The more recent decision to join the new Brokerslink steering team was to help Navacord understand the emerging trends in multinational placement and how Navacord can work more effectively by offering better service and value proposition for clients.

“Canada is part of the G7 and one of the top global economies, and the idea that we can bring our insurance expertise into this Brokerslink network and share our knowledge and help influence and shape the direction is beneficial for our clients,” said DeSantis. “And it’s also beneficial for the Navacord business.”

After all, more and more insurance companies are looking for brokers to have more volume with them and one of the benefits of being part of Brokerslink is that the brokerage is part of a global organization, which increases its overall value proposition with both carriers and clientele.

“We’re a very client-centric organization and we ask ourselves every day, how can we increase our value proposition for our clients,” said DeSantis. “Our value proposition consists of everything from risk management, claims expertise, and broker expertise, and then you add in global placement expertise and that puts us on the same playing field as global broker organizations, be it Marsh, Aon, or Gallagher. It gives us the ability to play in some accounts that traditionally we might not have been involved in.”
