The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario is throwing out the welcome mat in Ottawa this year in anticipation of an expected 2,500 people for its 94th annual convention - and this year will include a new awards category.

IBAO is thrilled to bring our Convention to Ottawa,” says IBAO CEO Randy Carroll. “Our theme for this year, created by our president, Chris Floyd is ‘Get Ready for Tomorrow Today.’ Chris’ theme will echo throughout the entire convention as we discuss and celebrate the innovative future of the insurance industry.”

Former Governor General, Michaëlle Jean will speak at the Education Luncheon on Oct. 22, where guests will honour this year’s graduates and outstanding achievements in IBAO education programs.

Keynote speaker will be the three-times listed Top 100 Business Thought Leaders in America and Top 100 Small Business Influencers in America, John Spence. Spence is touted as one of the top 500 leadership development experts in the world, sharing his expertise with Microsoft, Apple and Bank of America.

New to this year’s convention is an addition of the category ‘The Innovation Award,’ as part of the Awards of Excellence Gala, recognizing Ontario brokers who are best in class.

A delegate favourite returns again, the CEO Panel, which features high-profile company executives as they share their views on the current insurance landscape in the province. Last year’s panelists included Karen Gavan, Alister Campbell and Jean-Francois Blais.

The convention, which runs from Oct. 22-24, will be held at the Ottawa Convention Centre.
