The Insurance Institute of Canada (IIC) and the Canadian Broker Network (CBN) have announced a partnership to support the onboarding and development of new brokers at CBN member firms.
The IIC will provide access to its Accelerated Competence Series, an online training program designed to help new employees gain operational knowledge alongside the broker licensing process.
The initiative targets early-stage development for new hires across CBN’s network of more than 100 offices and 4,000 employees nationwide.
“The partnership with CBN to leverage the Accelerated Competence Series enables seasoned brokers to continue advising clients, while new brokers are accelerating their learning through our online program,” said Peter Hohman, president and CEO of the Insurance Institute of Canada.
According to the IIC, the program forms part of its broader effort to address talent shortages in the property and casualty sector. Other initiatives under this effort include Enabling Skills and Project Reframe, both aimed at improving workforce readiness.
Hohman added that the collaboration supports efforts to provide brokers with practical training tools to meet ongoing market demands.
CBN president Lorie Phair said the partnership is designed to strengthen member firms’ internal training capabilities and improve service delivery through skill development.
“Access to these courses will enhance existing employee skills and knowledge, rapidly develop the competence of new hires, and enable them to serve clients with effectiveness and confidence,” said Phair. “This collaboration with the IIC underscores our commitment to supporting our members in their individual training and development initiatives.”
CBN is a national group of more than 30 independent insurance brokerages. The network collectively represents over $3.5 billion in property and casualty premiums and provides services in personal, commercial, life, and group benefits insurance.
CBN also supports independent, employee-owned brokerages through shared resources and collaboration among member firms.
