In response to the growing demand for insurance adjusters, the Insurance Institute of Canada and the Canadian Independent Adjusters’ Association (CIAA) have partnered to fast-track licensing and strengthen the country’s independent adjuster network.

Through this initiative, new CIAA adjusters will gain accelerated training via the Institute’s Accelerated Competence Series, helping them quickly obtain their Level 1 licenses.

“This will help prepare for the current state of high demand in adjusters, as Canadian insurers continue to grapple with the increased frequency and severity of extreme weather events in Canada,” said Peter Hohman, president and CEO of the Insurance Institute of Canada.

“It also provides readiness should interprovincial trade barriers soon be removed in facilitation of needed mobility of adjusters within Canada.”

Hohman said the partnership with CIAA aligns with the Institute’s talent gap initiatives, which aim to help property and casualty employers address workforce growth and demand for qualified professionals. These efforts include Project Reframe, Enabling Skills and the Accelerated Competence Series.

“It is highly commendable to have both of these organizations collaborate on this accelerated professional development initiative which contributes to the industry across Canada,” said Michael Connolly, president of CIAA and vice president, Atlantic Canada, ClaimsPro. “CIAA is committed to fostering the professional development of the adjusters who make up our membership for the benefit of the P&C industry.”

The Insurance Institute of Canada recently launched its national licensing campaign across various digital channels, which will allow property and casualty insurance professionals access education related to their careers.

The campaign is expected to make resources more accessible so professionals can stay updated on the most current licensing guidance and allow students to write their licensing exams remotely and in a virtually proctored format.

The Insurance Institute of Canada is the premier professional education body for the P&C insurance industry. CIAA represents independent adjusters in Canada, providing advocacy, education and professional standards.
