One of the industry's biggest names is taking on one of Canada’s biggest rock bands over allegation the group failed to disclose key health information.

Lloyd’s of London is now suing Nickelback, along with its frontman Chad Kroeger, for allegedly failing to disclose a pre-existing medical condition with the power to force concert cancellations.

The band cited a cyst on Kroeger’s vocal chords for killing some 60 shows as part of a world tour earlier this year. It would later file a claim for $13 million US as a result.

Lloyd's of London has now gone to court, filing a claim against Nickelback, Nickelback Productions and Kroeger.

It argues Kroeger’s condition was pre-existing and undisclosed during the underwriting process.

The band has taken to social media to speak to thousands of disappointed fans if not directly to Lloyd’s allegations.

"With the proper amount of time, we hope to have (Kroger) back stronger and better than ever before,” reads a band message posted on its website. “We thank everyone for their support and understanding during this time and look forward to getting back out on the road and playing music for everyone again real soon."
