Manulife has revealed that Julie Dickson and Guy Bainbridge have been appointed to the company’s board of directors, effective August 07, 2019.

According to a release, Dickson will join the Manulife board’s management resources and compensation committee, as well as the risk committee. Bainbridge will join the audit committee and the corporate governance and nominating committee.

“Julie and Guy bring extensive experience and expertise that will be tremendously valuable in supporting the effective oversight of Manulife’s strategy and operations,” said Manulife chairman of the board John Cassaday.

Cassaday added that the company is excited to welcome the two to the team, and is confident that their future contributions would have a positive effect on both Manulife and the board.

Dickson is a former superintendent of the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI). Presently, she is serving on the Canadian Public Accountability Board, as well as the boards of the Dubai Financial Services Authority and the Global Risk Institute. Dickson is an Officer of the Order of Canada and holds a bachelor of arts from the University of New Brunswick and a master’s degree in economics from Queen’s University.

Bainbridge is a former partner with KPMG LLP. He has also acted as the key audit leader of several major financial institutions in the UK, and has served on KPMG’s UK board. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from St. John’s College, University of Cambridge.
