“Being named a Best Place to Work in Canada is a real honour which would not be possible without Manulife’s current and former employees, who took the time to provide their insights and feedback about what it’s like to work here,” said Manulife president and CEO Donald Guloien. “We are delighted to receive this award for the second year in a row. It speaks to our progress in making Manulife a great place to work, where employees can pursue their dreams and aspirations.”

Employee reviews for Manulife were posted on Glassdoor’s website between November 2, 2015 and October 30, 2016. The employees were asked to rate their satisfaction with the company, putting into consideration key workplace factors like career opportunities, compensation, benefits, work/life balance, senior management, as well as culture and values. They were also asked to describe the best reasons to work for Manulife, and to list any downsides, if any.

Manulife has been previously recognized as one of Canada’s Best Employers 2016 by Forbes. Waterstone Human Capital also awarded the company the distinction as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People for five consecutive years, as well as one of Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures of 2015. Guloien himself was named one of Glassdoor’s Highest Rated CEOs in Canada for both 2015 and 2016.

John Hancock, the US-based division of Manulife, was also recently recognized as one of the top companies on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, which measures how inclusive a company’s culture is, particularly to LGBT employees.
