Tomlinson succeeds Martine Ferland, who will remain CEO of Mercer and vice chair of Marsh McLennan and will oversee Mercer’s regional leaders until her retirement in March of next year.
In his new role, Tomlinson will be responsible for Mercer’s global health, wealth and career practices. In the near term, he will also retain his current responsibilities as CEO of Marsh McLennan US and Canada and president of Mercer US and Canada. He will report to Ferland.
Upon Ferland’s retirement, Tomlinson will succeed her as president and CEO of Mercer and vice chair of Marsh McLennan. He will report to John Doyle, president and CEO of Marsh McLennan, and will join the company’s executive committee.

Doyle also praised Ferland for her work at the company.

In July, Marsh McLennan announced plans to acquire Asprose Corredora de Seguros S.A., a prominent Costa Rica-based insurance brokerage. Earlier this year, the company’s stockholders re-elected its board.
