QBE North America has appointed Tom Fitzgerald as president of the specialty & commercial business.

Fitzgerald, whose appointment takes effect in February, will also join the company’s executive leadership team, and will report to QBE North America CEO Todd Jones. A release explained that in his new role, Fitzgerald will be responsible for “creating a future-focused organization that maximizes QBE’s unique limited and preferred distribution strategy to grow the organization.”

The new president most recently served as the CEO of Aon Risk Solutions’ global broking solutions. Prior to that, he held numerous leadership positions throughout Aon. Fitzgerald had been CEO of Aon Risk Solutions US retail operations since 2014, and his other roles included chief broking officer at Aon’s US commercial risk, and president of Aon private risk management. Fitzgerald also played a key role in the launch of Aon Risk Solutions’ technology practice.
