Yesterday marked the launch of a new five-year partnership between Canada’s third-largest general insurer, RSA, and WWF-Canada, to inspire and engage employees in workplaces across the Canada to take environmental action.

“Our focus is to implement a national program,” says RSA Corporate Responsibility Partner, Paula Bernardino. “We want to have green teams in every office across the country.”

The initiative calls for each local team to work towards a specific goal that resonates with their individual location. Examples could include cutting down on electricity consumption, focusing on reducing paper waste, or targeting the recycling of coffee cups.

It is the next step in what is already a strong relationship: for more than five years, WWF and RSA have partnered on research and employee engagement initiatives. For example, with its credentials as a leading renewable energy and marine insurer, RSA has supported WWF’s efforts to better understand the impact of a changing climate while also moving to help RSA employees, customers, and brokers mitigate and adapt to those risks.

This partnership also marks RSA becoming the new presenting sponsor of Living Planet @ Work, WWF-Canada’s environmental employee engagement program.

“Our employees are our biggest asset and engaging them on sustainability – an issue that they care deeply about – is directly linked to our success,” said Rowan Saunders, President and CEO of RSA Canada. “Combined with WWF’s inspiration and guidance, we can bring together our people to create a more sustainable future.”
