After more than 50 years of independent service in Grand Forks, Dave Dale Insurance Agencies Ltd. is now part of the Westland Insurance group, joining a growing number of community-based brokerages being integrated into national insurance networks. The acquisition took effect on June 1.
Westland Insurance continues to expand its operations through strategic acquisitions and organic growth. The acquisition of Dave Dale Insurance aligns with its approach of integrating regional brokerages into its network, its CEO claimed.
“As we expand our network of insurers across Canada, we’re always looking to partner with organizations that have an excellent track-record of serving their communities,” said Jamie Lyons (pictured), president and CEO of Westland Insurance.
Founded in 1967, Dave Dale Insurance has operated as a full-service brokerage in the Grand Forks area, offering auto, home, travel, and small business insurance. It also serves as the local driver licensing center. The company’s history includes a longstanding presence in the community through both insurance services and participation in local initiatives.
No financial terms of the deal were disclosed.
Westland’s acquisition strategy has included similar transactions across Canada in recent years, as the company seeks to build a wider distribution of brokerage offices while continuing to work with teams already embedded in local markets.
Dave Dale Insurance’s staff and services will continue under the Westland name, allowing for continuity in customer service while connecting the Grand Forks office to Westland’s larger operational network.
Westland has not announced any immediate operational changes at the Grand Forks location following the acquisition.
In a similar move last year, Westland acquired the Dupuis Langen Group, another British Columbia-based firm. The Richmond-based group benefits brokerage is recognized for serving the community social services sector and unionized workplaces.
