Westland Insurance Group has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase the insurance brokerage business of Innovation Credit Union, a credit union based in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

The transaction is expected to close around October 01, 2020.

A company release said that this is Westland’s second acquisition in the province of Saskatchewan; Westland gains five branches and 36 employees in the region.

In total, Westland will have more than 1,500 employees and 129 offices in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

“We are delighted to be expanding Westland’s presence in Saskatchewan,” said Westland Insurance CEO Jason Wubs. “The insurance brokers of Innovation Credit Union are deeply rooted in their communities, they truly care about their clients’ needs, and they are a great addition to our existing presence in Saskatchewan.”

“We know that our staff and clients will benefit from Westland Insurance’s exemplary product offering and reputation as both an employer and service provider,” commented Innovation Credit Union chief wealth officer Tim Sletten. “And we believe that the transition to Westland Insurance will be a rewarding experience for all.”

Earlier this month, Westland Insurance closed four acquisitions in three provinces: King Insurance in Winnipeg, MB; Johnson Agencies in Leduc, AB; Hedderick Insurance Agencies in Pincher Creek, AB; and Nauroth & Associates in Prince George, BC.
