With the Russia-Ukraine war continuing to severely impact the lives of people in both countries, the Westland Insurance Group is showing its support for the people of Ukraine with a $100,000 donation.

The insurance brokerage is donating the cash to the Canadian Red Cross and its Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal fund. According to a release, the fund will enable the Red Cross to respond to humanitarian needs generated by the conflict, which includes preparedness, immediate and ongoing relief efforts, long-term recovery, and other humanitarian needs as they arise.

“This is not just a conflict for the Ukrainian people, and there’s an urgent need for people around the world to support relief efforts there,” said Westland Insurance Group CEO Jason Wubs. “Supporting our communities is at the core of who were are at Westland, and this includes coming together to support the global community when there’s a crisis of this magnitude.”

Canadian insurance companies have recently gone out of their way to provide financial aid to humanitarian workers in Ukraine. The insurers that have donated to the Canadian Red Cross so far include The Co-operators, Desjardins Group, Gore Mutual, iA Financial, Intact Financial, and Sun Life.
