XL Catlin names lead fine art and specie underwriter

XL Catlin has appointed a new underwriter for its fine art and specie (FAS) business in Canada.

The underwriter, Farzina Coladon, will be responsible for underwriting fine art, jewelers block and general specie insurance across Canada, a company release said.

“We are very excited to have Farzina join our underwriting practice in Canada,” commented XL Catlin senior underwriter and senior vice-president of FAS North America Jennifer Schipf. “Her specialized background will help lead our business in the country while continuing to strengthen existing relationships with our clients and brokers.”

Coladon joined XL Catlin on November 06. In her new role, she will be based in Toronto and will be tasked to lead the company’s FAS business.

“Farzina’s appointment further strengthens our capabilities to partner with our key brokers, fine art collectors and institutions who understand the importance of protecting their investments,” said XL Catlin Canada CEO and country manager Nick Greggains. “Farzina is an expert in her field and a great addition to our roster of talented underwriters.”

Coladon has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. She was most recently a senior underwriter at the Guarantee Company of North America. She also held various leadership and management roles at Chubb North America. Coladon was also recognized by the Canadian Broker Network as one of the Underwriters of the Year for 2017.

She is a graduate of Carleton University and Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology. Coladon also has a Canadian Risk Management Designation (CRM) from the University of Toronto.
