The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) – the Crown corporation responsible for providing the province with public auto insurance, driver licensing, and vehicle registration services – has put together a plan to assist those affected by the severe wildfire situation in Lytton, BC.

ICBC will be issuing replacement IDs – specifically replacement driver’s licences, BC Services Cards, and BC Identification – without the customer needing to present identification to process the transaction. This streamlined process is for those who have lost their IDs to the wildfires. To ensure that everyone is made aware of the new process, ICBC has reached out to evacuation centres, which will inform wildfire evacuees of the ID replacement process.

To facilitate this streamlined ID replacement process, ICBC has set up a hotline number, 1-800-950-1498, that will take in calls every Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6pm, and on Saturdays from 9am to 5pm. ICBC has also suggested that those seeking replacement driver’s licences can visit their nearest driver licensing office.

ICBC also announced that it is accepting insurance claims for wildfire damage at any time through the phone number 1-800-910-4222.

“ICBC is paying close attention to the unfolding situation in Lytton and is monitoring other potential wildfire and flood threats in B.C. to assist customers and communities as quickly as possible,” the insurer said in a statement.
