Insurance Business Canada has released its 5-Star Cyber report for 2026, identifying the top-performing cyber insurance companies in the Canadian market based on broker research and detailed insurer submissions.
Canada’s cyber insurance market is on a sustained growth trajectory. Industry analysis projects the market will surpass US$590 million in 2025 and reach US$1.14 billion by 2030, expanding at a compound annual growth rate of approximately 14%. Alongside that growth, brokers and buyers are placing greater emphasis on carrier performance during the critical first 72 hours of an incident – not only on the breadth of policy coverage. Businesses across the country, from sole proprietors to multinationals, are increasingly focused on carrier selection as a risk management decision.
To compile the 2026 rankings, Insurance Business Canada drew on its broker and reader community through multiple survey channels. Brokers were invited to vote on the cyber insurers they believe deliver the strongest value in the current market. Insurers that received notable broker support were then invited to submit detailed entries outlining the strengths of their cyber policies and products. Submissions covered coverage features, product performance, claims support, underwriting expertise, and how their solutions support brokers and clients in managing cyber risk. Final selections were based primarily on overall broker support, with additional consideration given to product quality, claims handling, underwriting expertise, and broker relationships.
Among the 2026 winners is Northbridge Insurance, a Canadian commercial insurer. The company works with its broker partners and applies industry expertise to support clients in managing business risks.
