SkyWatch.AI – a US-based on-demand telematics-based insurance platform – is introducing its drone insurance product in Ontario.

The insurance will be underwritten by a member of Starr Insurance Companies, which has insurance carriers rated “A” by A.M. Best. Thanks to the SkyWatch.AI platform, professional drone pilots can purchase and manage their coverage through their mobile or desktop devices.

Starr Companies’ aviation group first announced its collaboration with SkyWatch.AI in March 2018.

A release stated that SkyWatch.AI will be offering flexible liability insurance by the hour, month, or year through its proprietary platform. The platform also offers a risk map that helps pilots plan their flights, get insurance quotes in real time, avoid any potential operation hazards, and even analyze their flight performance.

“The drone industry is rapidly growing and 2020 is set to be a pivotal year for drone pilots on all levels,” said SkyWatch.AI co-founder and CEO Tomer Kashi. “We want to provide drone pilots innovative technology and insurance with extremely flexible coverage plans.”

Kashi added that after SkyWatch.AI’s pilot run in Ontario it has plans to expand to more regions.
