Joining the growing list of insurers donating to help with flood relief efforts, The Guarantee Company of North America announced yesterday that it has contributed funds to the Canadian Red Cross Spring Floods Appeal.

The insurer donated $10,000 to the non-profit, to be used to help provide food, clothing, and first aid to flood victims.

“The Guarantee is pleased to support the Canadian Red Cross in their efforts to assist Canadians affected by the current state of emergency,” said The Guarantee national vice-president of Operations & Distribution Management Richard Pouliot. “We know that unforeseen events can be devastating and we hope our $10,000 donation will assist the Red Cross in supporting those in need who have been impacted by the catastrophic flooding.”

A release noted that The Guarantee is also stepping up its own efforts to assist customers who have been affected by the flooding.

“A cross-department emergency response team continues to monitor the situation and its impact on policyholders, while claims experts are already in the affected areas meeting with customers to assess the damages and ensuring that policyholders remain informed and in control throughout each development,” the company said.

“Our first priority is to help those policyholders who have been evacuated find a safe place for themselves and their families,” explained The Guarantee national vice-president of P&C Claims Josie Pachis. “The Guarantee’s claims team is on full alert to help those affected by the spring flooding in Quebec and Ontario.”
