Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has appointed Anthony Tramonte as head of marine for AGCS Canada.

Tramonte, whose appointment is effective September 08, 2022, will be based in Toronto and report to AGCS North American head of marine and global head of inland marine Rich Soja. In his new role, Tramonte will develop and execute the local strategy and proactively support the development of AGCS’ global strategy for inland and ocean marine, a release said. He will also manage the Canadian marine team and oversee all aspects of the marine portfolio of the region.

A former senior engineering and construction underwriter at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, Tramonte served the corporate insurer since 2013. At Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, he was also part of the Canadian engineering and construction division and was pivotal in establishing the company’s presence in the mid-market business.

Tramonte also previously held positions at Liberty International Underwriters Canada and FM Global Insurance. He has a bachelor of applied science and engineering in mechanical engineering from the University of Toronto.

“Anthony is an experienced executive with a solid understanding of the Canadian market and I am delighted to welcome him to AGCS as we continue to strengthen our visibility in the region,” said Rich Soja. “His strong technical background coupled with a demonstrated history of distribution management will serve as assets to our multifaceted business.”

In May, AGCS named Mike Martin as global head of property. He joins AGCS from AIG, where he served as chief underwriting officer for US retail property. He brings with him more than 35 years of experience in international property underwriting.
