US-based managing general agency Amwins Specialty Logistics Underwriters (ASLU) is expanding its business into Canada.

ASLU delivers niche coverage solutions for freight forwarders and third-party logistics operators. Since its launch in 2018, it has underwritten over 5,000 accounts. ASLU is a Lloyd’s coverholder and is rated “A+” by S&P.

The expansion into the Canadian market will provide retailers with an “efficient” solution for securing coverage that previously would have taken days to confirm, ASLU said in a release. Claims agents have been set up for each of Canada’s provinces to ensure that ASLU’s Canadian clients are met with “high-quality support and service,” in addition to tailor-made coverage solutions.

ASLU said that its Canadian clients can expect same-day proposals for:

  • Shipper’s interest ocean cargo
  • Shipper’s interest inland transit
  • Warehouse storage (goods of others)
  • Carrier’s legal liability
  • Freight forwarder’s legal liability (contingent cargo)
  • Freight forwarder E&O
  • Warehouse legal liability

“The logistics industry is growing by more than 25% each year,” said ASLU executive vice president Alex Rosas. “Everyone on our team has dedicated their careers to becoming experts in this space so that we can anticipate its complexities and protect our clients. We look forward to partnering with Canadian retailers to deliver creative logistics insurance solutions to the market.”
