Mergers & Acquisitions

Acera Insurance has fully merged operations with Rogers Mclean Shaw Insurance, an Edmonton brokerage that the company had formally partnered with back in 2020 when Rogers Insurance took a significant minority stake in the business.

“Expanding our partnership to fully amalgamate with Acera Insurance is extremely beneficial to our clients as it allows us to provide greater choice and competitive solutions for all their insurance needs,” said Doug Laird, president of Rogers Mclean Shaw.

“The move also ensures we remain local and independent, which empowers us to maintain the personalized, unbiased service our clients have come to trust and expect.”

Under planned changes, Rogers Mclean Shaw Insurance will be known as Acera Insurance.

Fifty five percent of Rogers Mclean Shaw staff now own a portion of the Acera, the broker said in a news release.

“Rogers Mclean Shaw’s longevity, reputation and dedication to its clients is impressive,” said Lee Rodgers, Acera’s CEO.

“We are excited to have our valued partner join Acera Insurance, as this supports our mutual commitment to putting our clients first.”

The news follows Acera’s recent acquisition of Rushton Agencies, an independent brokerage with a 100-year history in Stettler, Alberta.

“Joining Acera Insurance offers our clients the best of both worlds – Stettler maintains a local, independent brokerage and dedicated community partner and gains greater access to markets and insurance products,” said Steve Babcock, president of Rushton Agencies.
