Red River Mutual is launching a new sponsorship campaign, wherein the mutual insurance company will sponsor beloved community spaces in both Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Through the “Spruce Up Your Story” campaign, Red River Mutual will select community centres and spaces that are “well-worn and well-loved” and that would benefit from an investment, such as youth centres that need their roofing fixed, parks whose fences need painting, or ice rinks that need new seats.

The chosen locations will be put up to a staff-run vote and the winners will each be awarded up to $40,000. Red River Mutual said in a release that there is no limit to the number of communities that can win.

On top of the monetary award, winners will also be provided access to additional volunteer hours from a crew of staff members from Red River Mutual (and their local brokerage) to help complete their projects.

“At Red River Mutual, we are deeply connected to the communities we protect. Through the policies we write and the claims we respond to, we’re part of the impactful stories that shape our communities,” commented Red River Mutual president and CEO Brian Esau.

Red River Mutual will start its search for community centres this coming spring. The public can nominate the community project of their choice through submissions. Those who nominate will be asked to name their local Red River broker – entries that receive broker endorsements will earn extra points toward winning an award.

“The stories in our communities are the ones that motivate great work within our walls. With our brokers and employees championing the community campaign, we’ll strengthen our position that we protect and care about the communities we serve,” Esau remarked.
