Westland Insurance is providing funds to help the non-profit Habitat for Humanity build a home.

The insurance broker is offering the Habitat for Humanity Yorkton Chapter a $50,000 home sponsorship grant, to enable the chapter to build its ninth home on Darlington Street East.

The home to be constructed will go to Tania Fleury and her children. Tania will purchase the home at fair-market value, with a zero-down payment, interest-free mortgage, set at 25% of her gross annual income. She will also contribute 500 volunteer hours toward the building of her new home.

“I’d like to honestly say that it has made a huge difference in our future,” Fleury said.

“Westland Insurance is so proud and excited to be the Home Sponsor for this build so that Tania and her boys can have a home of their own,” commented Westland Insurance SVP of marketing and customer experience Carl Watson.

Westland Insurance established its Amplifying Communities initiative earlier this year, with the goal of supporting various community projects across Canada in areas where it maintains a presence. This latest Habitat for Humanity sponsorship marks the start of Westland Insurance’s national partnership with the non-profit.

“Having a new partner like Westland Insurance means a lot to Habitat. It allows us to be successful in building safe, decent and affordable homes for our partner families,” said Habitat Saskatchewan CEO Denis Perrault. “As Westland Insurance continues its growth across the country, we are grateful to see them giving back in the communities they serve.”
