Teachers are accustomed to the excuse, ‘The dog ate my homework;’ but how many insurers have heard ‘The dog ate my car?’

The dog in question, Luce, hadn’t been getting along with the other dog of the house, so the owner Royston Grimstead placed an ad to find a new home for the four-year-old border collie.

However, only days later, Grimstead came home one night to find the wheel well of his Aston Martin DB9 Volante destroyed, with his faithful Luce covered in fibreglass chips.

“She’d had a right go at it,” a dismayed Grimstead told reporters in his hometown of Somerset, England.

The $5,000 in damage to the $130,000 car was covered by Grimstead’s insurance.

It was soon afterwards that Luce found a new home – and so far she hasn’t developed a taste for anything other than Aston Martins.
