iA Financial Group has appointed Nicolas Coulombe (pictured) as executive vice-president of information technology and chief information officer, effective October 1, 2026, adding him to the company's Executive Committee.
Coulombe succeeds Alain Bergeron, who will retire December 31 after leading iA's technology function since 2020, and will support the transition through year-end.
"I sincerely thank Alain for his significant contribution, commitment and leadership," said Denis Ricard, iA's president and CEO. "He has helped bring technology and business closer together and leaves behind a strong team."
Since joining in 2020, Bergeron helped strengthen collaboration between iA's technology teams and business units and encouraged the development of multidisciplinary teams built around shared objectives, rising from senior vice-president to his current executive vice-president title along the way.
Coulombe currently serves as vice-president of IT service delivery at iA, giving him direct, existing familiarity with the technology organization he's now being elevated to lead. His background spans technology strategy, infrastructure and operations, cybersecurity, fraud prevention and IT governance, with prior senior roles in financial services and telecommunications before joining iA.
"Nicolas's experience, leadership and knowledge of iA position him well to lead our technology function through its next stage of evolution," Ricard said.
As with several other recent iA leadership moves, including the quantitative finance chair announcement tied to iA's growing, increasingly AI- and data-driven asset base, this succession keeps continuity within the organization rather than bringing in an outside hire.
IBC's release frames this appointment around "the central role of technology, data, artificial intelligence and digital transformation" in iA's business model, language consistent with iA's own disclosed growth trajectory. The insurer's assets under management and administration reached $341.1 billion by the end of 2025, up 31% year over year, with 25% growth in premiums and deposits reported into 2026.
Managing that kind of scale increasingly depends on the same data and AI infrastructure decisions the CIO role oversees, meaning Coulombe inherits a technology function that's become more strategically central to iA's overall growth story than a typical back-office IT mandate would be.
For advisers distributing iA products, a CIO whose background spans cybersecurity, fraud prevention and IT governance arriving at a moment of rapid platform growth suggests the adviser-facing infrastructure is likely to become both more capable and more secure over the next renewal cycle.
