Shawn specializes in educating clients on the nature and extent of their environmental, health and safety exposures within their facilities and operational practices, and matches them with the appropriate insurance solutions to help mitigate their risks. With a background in environmental services, he is well positioned to provide clients, across a broad range of industries, guidance pertaining to suitable risk transfer mechanisms to minimize their liability and manage costs.

Experience

Shawn began his career in environmental consulting performing environmental site assessments for his clients in order to satisfy regulatory, transactional and refinancing requirements. These investigations included, but were not limited to soil and groundwater remediation projects and air quality oversight, specifically in the field of and occupational health and safety. Complementing this, Shawn also served as an environmental, health and safety manager, advising clients on how to manage environmental and workplace hazards.  

 

His strong educational background in chemical engineering and experience in environmental, health and safety consulting, positioned him well for a career in underwriting environmental risk. Throughout the course of nine years, Shawn underwrote environmental risks, holding progressive positions at two large, international carriers. As an environmental underwriter, Shawn was responsible for underwriting all commercial environmental risks, including fixed site pollution and contractor pollution liability. His book of business spanned across a number of industries including manufacturing, real estate, construction, trucking, mining and energy, to name a few.  

 

As a seasoned insurance professional, he has spoken at a number of public events on the intricacies and importance of environmental liability insurance. His passion and commitment to educating his clients on their exposures, while providing them with risk management guidance, has enabled him to build strong, trusting relationships.
