Before insurance, Sheri Clay worked in the cruise industry, which she describes as “a fun, sexy business – and I didn’t feel insurance would be even remotely similar.” But after having her first child, she was looking for more work-life balance, so she joined her husband’s brokerage, J.T. Insurance Services (Canada), Inc., and soon found her niche.
“I love working with my clients and take pride in knowing they will be protected if and when the time arises,” she says. “A client once said to me, ‘Do whatever you would do for your own family,’ and that has stuck with me ever since.”
Clay enjoys mentoring new team members on what it means to advise, care for, protect and advocate for clients by fully understanding their needs and tailoring their insurance accordingly. “Coaching our team on how to provide value for our clients also goes a long way to keeping team members engaged,” she says.
