Insurance giant Alliant adds another arm to its growing MGA division, with the acquisition of SES Insurance Brokerage Services.

California-headquartered Alliant announced the acquisition on Wednesday morning, adding the Santa Ana based firm to its managing general agent (MGA) unit, Alliant Specialty Insurance Services (ASIS).

In an announcement, Alliant dubbed SES “one of the nation’s most innovative financial institution and real estate investor program administrators.” The brokerage services company “is highly regarded for delivering cutting-edge risk management, technology, and service solutions to clients nationwide”, Alliant said.

Tom Corbett, chairman and CEO of Alliant, said the acquisition reiterated the insurer’s drive for innovation in the industry.

“Joining forces with SES affirms our continued focus on partnering with innovative companies that have demonstrated leadership within the industries they serve,” he explained. “SES’s proven combination of service, relationships, and technologies will provide a powerful advantage to Alliant as we continue to expand the reach and impact of our ASIS division.”

Alliant will take on the “full range of forward-thinking solutions to the financial and real estate communities” at SES. The brokerage services firm’s business assets include “Master Trust programs”; products targeted towards “investors owning portfolios of single family residential rental properties”; and “leading-edge technology solutions”.

SES will continue to operate under its existing name, and the leadership team, management, and services teams will stay. By falling into the ASIS fold, SES “will expand its reach and offerings through the size and strength of Alliant”, the new parent company said.

The terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

Blair Schrum, CEO of SES, said the takeover gave the firm a great step-up: “ASIS, with its powerful distribution relationships and deep resources, will provide an ideal platform by which we can further solidify our reputation as difference makers for our clients and partners.”
