Claim Central Consolidated has announced its expansion to North America with the opening of an office in the United States.

Claim Central, an insurtech claims firm which uses digital technology and live streaming to make the claims process more efficient for insurers, brokers and clients, has set-up an office in Jacksonville, Florida and announced that Quin Netzel will become managing director, North America, having made the move from Aon where he was previously a partner.

Brian Siemsen, global CEO of Claim Central, said that following successful international expansion to New Zealand and South Africa in the last 12 months, the North American move is a big step.

“Having rolled out in New Zealand and practising across New Zealand and South Africa in the last 12 months, I knew what we had was portable,” Siemsen said. “However, every Aussie tries to break bread in the US, but the failure rate and the graveyard between here and the US is quite long and deep, so we wanted to make sure we really considered insurtech.

“I have this comment that a lot of crumbs make a cake, and their crumbs there are our cakes here. In terms of market size, you only need one or two customers to really get on board and do really well, which is what our plan is in Florida.”

Siemsen said that Netzel was a “gem of a find” having worked in the industry for close to 30 years.

“Quin will be instrumental in working with our US clients to help maximise claims operational efficiencies and enhance the service experience for their customers by embedding our insurtech claims and supplier management platform, ClaimLogik, into their businesses,” Siemsen said.

Siemsen stressed that the firm will be “very considered and conservative” and will begin operations by looking at the Florida market. He said that there are already clients with interest in the firm, with the executive team of one Florida-based insurer currently visiting Sydney for staff training.

“We will spend two years practising the process as well as embedding it with the current customer group that we have got out of Florida,” he said.
