Erie Insurance Group, one of the largest homeowners’ and auto insurers in the United States, has announced the promotion of Sheryl Rucker (pictured) to senior vice president of the company’s law division. In this role, Rucker will oversee compliance, special investigations, agency operations and marketing, claims legal, and legal support.

Rucker joined Erie Insurance in 2003 as associate general counsel. In 2010, she was promoted to senior counsel for insurance operations. In that role, she handled complex major litigation, government relations, corporate coverage matters and more.

Rucker holds a bachelor’s degree and a juris doctorate from West Virginia University. Prior to joining Erie Insurance, she served as a judicial law clerk for a US magistrate judge and as an associate attorney, and later a partner, with Lamp, Bartram, Levy, Trautwein and Perry, a West Virginia law firm.
