Ford Motor Company has issued two separate recalls related to a brake and coil spring issue.

The first recall affects 62,876 Ford Edge vehicles in the 2015 through 2018 model years, and Lincoln MKX vehicles in the 2016 to 2018 model years. Both vehicles were built at the Oakville Assembly Plant from mid-2014 to the end of 2017. According to Ford, the front brake hoses of these affected vehicles could rupture, leading to the brake fluid leaking; this would weaken the brake’s power and increase the risk of a crash.

Ford said that the recalled vehicles will have their brake hoses replaced. It said that vehicles with the safety issue have the brake fluid warning light illuminated.

In addition, another 491 vehicles are being recalled in Canada, this time involving the 2020 Lincoln Corsair. Ford said that the model year runs the risk of a fractured rear coil spring. This defect, the auto manufacturer warned, could cause a potential road hazard for traffic following the affected vehicle, and also increases the likelihood of crashing.

The Canadian Press reported that Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injury related to these two defects.
