If you have a client who has signed up for auto insurance with Jermaine on behalf of LinkXInsurance, they need to pull the car over. Right now.

The Financial Services Commission of Ontario is warning consumers that an individual called “Jermaine” is claiming to sell auto insurance on behalf of LinkXInsurance. The individual is using the following email address, website and phone number: [email protected], “www.LinkXInsurance.com”, 647-830-8421.

“This individual sold false insurance cards that listed Aviva Insurance Company and PC Financial Insurance Brokers as their insurers” says FSCO’s Kristen Rose. “LinkXInsurance and this individual are not licensed to do insurance business in Ontario.”

Rose urges brokers to tell their clients that they should “exercise caution if they are contacted by anyone matching this description.”

Although “Jermaine” has sold fraudulent cards listing Aviva and PC Financial, Rose wants to make clear that these companies are licensed, and are in no way associated with the scam.

“It should be noted that Aviva Insurance Company of Canada is an insurance company that is licensed by FSCO, and PC Financial Insurance Brokers is an insurance brokerage that is licensed by the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO),” says Rose. “The companies have confirmed that they are not affiliated or associated with LinkXInsurance, this individual or this scam.”

In addition, FSCO is asking brokers to alert their clients to an individual called Mark Li Mosse, as he is not licensed to do insurance business in Ontario.

A false liability slip was discovered following a routine traffic stop, when FSCO was informed that a Mr. Li Mosse had sold a false liability slip to a consumer, a slip that appeared to be provided by Unifund Assurance Company.

Unifund has since confirmed that the slip was false and the insurance policy listed was not valid; and FSCO has also confirmed that Li Mosse is not licensed with either FSCO or the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO).

FSCO handles complaints about individuals and/or companies operating in the insurance, mortgage brokering, credit unions and caisses populaires, pensions, and loan and trust corporation sectors. When it believes there may be non-compliance with legislation and regulations, FSCO conducts a thorough investigation. Depending on the findings, FSCO may proceed with enforcement action.
