APOLLO Insurance has expanded its embedded insurance strategy through a partnership with Yardi that integrates tenant insurance directly into the RentCafe leasing platform used by Canadian property managers and multifamily operators.
The integration allows renters to purchase tenant insurance or upload proof of coverage during the leasing process without leaving the platform. Property managers using Yardi Voyager can also monitor insurance compliance through a centralized dashboard.
The agreement reflects growing momentum behind embedded insurance distribution in the property and casualty market, particularly within personal lines products such as renters insurance. Insurers, MGAs, and insurtech firms have increasingly partnered with property technology providers to reach customers earlier in the leasing process and simplify policy purchases.
The partnership expands APOLLO's access to Canada’s rental housing market as tenant insurance adoption continues to increase among institutional landlords and multifamily operators. Many landlords now require proof of tenant insurance as part of lease agreements because of concerns around liability exposure, water damage claims, and uninsured tenant losses.
The Canadian rental market has also tightened in recent years because of housing affordability pressures and population growth, increasing the importance of risk management for residential property portfolios. According to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, rental demand remained elevated through 2025, while vacancy rates in several major urban markets stayed below historical averages.
“This expanded partnership with Yardi is a major milestone for APOLLO Insurance,” said Jeff McCann, founder and CEO of APOLLO Insurance. “By embedding tenant insurance directly into the RentCafe leasing workflow, we're removing friction for both residents and property managers. Insurance compliance becomes effortless, visibility improves instantly, and property managers can manage risk without adding operational complexity.”
Embedded tenant insurance can improve conversion rates by offering coverage at the point of lease signing, when renters are already completing required documentation. Industry participants have increasingly viewed embedded distribution as a way to lower customer acquisition costs and improve retention compared with traditional direct-response channels.
The partnership also highlights the growing role of APIs and digital infrastructure in insurance distribution. APOLLO Insurance has positioned itself as an API-driven digital insurance platform and managing general agent, enabling insurance products to be integrated directly into third-party platforms and workflows.
The embedded insurance market has attracted increasing attention from insurers and investors globally. Analysts have projected continued growth in embedded insurance premiums over the next decade, particularly across personal lines, mobility, and property-related products as consumers become more accustomed to purchasing insurance during digital transactions.
Centralized compliance tracking may help reduce administrative work tied to manual verification of tenant policies and renewals. Real-time compliance visibility can also support portfolio risk management and operational oversight.
The partnership may also provide underwriting benefits. Tenant insurance products can give insurers broader access to occupancy and behavioral data generated through digital leasing platforms, potentially supporting pricing accuracy and fraud detection over time.
“Partnering with companies like APOLLO Insurance allows us to bring the right solutions directly into the hands of property managers and residents,” said Peter Altobelli, president of Yardi Canada Ltd. “Making tenant insurance a seamless part of the leasing experience is exactly the kind of practical innovation our clients are asking for.”
The integration is now available to Canadian RentCafe users operating on Yardi Voyager.
