AXA XL has named Jennifer Arezes as the newest member of its property insurance team in Canada, serving in the role of senior underwriter.

In her new position, Arezes will be based in Toronto, working alongside AXA XL Canada head of property Ian Rutherford and AXA XL Canada CEO and country manager Urs Uhlmann.

Arezes will be responsible for developing and structuring custom risk solutions to win over new business while retaining existing customers – with a particular focus on Canadian clients with global exposures, a release said.

She joins AXA XL from Zurich, where she most recently led the company’s commercial property insurance business. Arezes has more than 15 years of industry experience, focusing on property underwriting and across different business lines. She has a degree in biological technology/industrial microbiology from the Centennial College of Applied Arts and Technology.

“We’re very excited to have Jennifer join our growing team of experts in Canada,” AXA XL Canada CEO and country manager Urs Uhlmann commented, also calling her “one of the best in the industry.”

Uhlmann added that Arezes’ experience will not just bolster AXA XL’s underwriting capabilities, but will also serve as an asset to the company’s strategic growth objectives in the large, international property risks space.

“As the largest commercial insurer in the world, we have a unique opportunity for continued growth across Canada. Jennifer’s expertise and in-depth knowledge of the market is a great asset to our team and, most importantly, will enhance our ability to provide outstanding service to our clients and brokers,” stated AXA XL Canada head of property Ian Rutherford.
