The Canadian Association of Managing General Agents (CAMGA) has selected MaryKate Townsend to serve as its president and Michael Lough as its chairman of the board.

Townsend is a manager and senior underwriter at Pacific Marine Underwriting Managers. In that role, she oversees the company’s eastern region operations, underwriting pleasurecraft marine business for brokers in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario.

“I am delighted to represent MGAs across Canada in the effort to educate brokers about the benefits of working with an MGA, and the value that we can bring to their organization,” said Townsend.

Meanwhile, Lough is vice president of community services at Intact Public Entities. As vice president, he oversees national distribution for the community services book of businesses – mostly in the non-profit segment.

“CAMGA has developed a solid reputation for its pillars of advocacy, education and ethics as seen by the calibre of its membership base.  I look forward to working with this talented group to advance these goals over the next two years,” said Lough.

“The Canadian MGA sector and the delegated underwriting marketplace will be well served having such distinguished and experienced practitioners in these key executive leadership positions,” commented CAMGA managing director Steve Masnyk. “Both bring extensive backgrounds within the retail brokerage and carrier sectors; two vitally important segments of the industry MGAs trade with on a daily basis.”

The appointments of Townsend and Lough come after CAMGA elected new members to its board of directors last month.
