The Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO) has launched a new certification program for its insurance service provider members involved in the commercial lines industry.

Aptly called the Commercial Lines (CL) Certification Program, the program is designed to support and recognize members that have implemented CSIO CL Data Standards.

The new program is offered to members at no additional cost; a release added that it will complement CSIO’s eDocs and Z-Code Compliance Certifications, which recognize member organizations for their commitment to data standards best practices.

CSIO said that the program provides several benefits, including:

  • Company recognition as an industry leader committed to continuous workflow improvement.
  • Increased confidence in accurate and up-to-date data exchanges with other certified organizations.
  • Improved operational efficiency with straight-through processing functionality.

A release explained that the CL Certification Program consists of three increasing levels of certification, each level representing a milestone as the member organization adopts more of CSIO’s Commercial Lines Data Standards and meets certain criteria.

“To streamline workflows in the broker distribution channel, data needs to be structured in a consistent, accessible way,” said CSIO president and CEO Catherine Smola. “It is essential that members have a framework which guides and validates an organizations’ implementation of CL Data Standards.”

Smola added that the proper implementation of CL data standards should result in higher industry productivity, as well as the ability to digitize more commercial insurance transactions.
