Gore Mutual will be participating again in this year’s GivingTuesday event, by donating to 10 different Canadian charities selected via a vote.

This is the insurer’s fourth year to participate in GivingTuesday – a global generosity movement that takes place each year after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Since 2017, Gore Mutual has granted over $130,000 to date as part of the giving initiative.

For this year, Gore Mutual will be donating a total of $50,000, with 10 recipients each receiving $5,000. The insurer is asking its national network of insurance broker partners, customers, and the general public to help determine the recipients through nominations.

Nominations are being accepted on Gore Mutual’s social media channels, particularly those using the tags #GivingTuesdayCA and #GoreMutual.

The public has until December 01 to nominate their favourite charities. After that, all of Gore Mutual’s employees will have the opportunity to vote which from among the nominees will receive the donations. Winners will be announced also on December 01 through social media.

"Our organization is working to embed purpose and social good into our identity and everything we do," said Gore Mutual CEO Andy Taylor. “Giving is in our DNA and Gore Mutual has a long history of supporting Canadian communities during times of adversity.”

"GivingTuesday, gives us an important forum to discuss how charities, corporations and individuals can come together to address key social gaps," added Gore Mutual chair of the board Farouk Ahamed. "As a mutual insurance company with a charitable foundation, we believe that we have a social responsibility to support communities across Canada and help those in need.”
