The Insurance Business Canada Awards are only a few weeks away, with the winners of this year’s honours set to be revealed on November 19. The 2020 virtual event (which is free to attend) will also feature exclusive panels with some of the finalists from the various award categories, and will encourage attendees to engage with other guests, reconnect with their peers, and make new connections via live chatrooms.

One insurance firm is no stranger to the awards. DSB Claims Solutions has been a finalist, winner, and sponsor of the IBC Awards for three years now. For 2020, the company has sponsored the DSB Claims Solutions Award for Brokerage of the Year (10 Staff or More), and is a finalist for the Insurance Business Magazine Readers’ Choice for Best Service Provider, as well as the Winmar Award for Excellence in Claims Service.

“[These nominations] reinforce our belief that claims service is rooted in providing an outstanding claims experience,” said Dara Banga, president and chief adjusting officer of DSB. “It’s a reinforcement that focusing claims solutions around customer experience and customer service is important.”

As part of this focus on services, DSB is constantly thinking about what the client experience should look like, and sends out surveys to policyholders on its after-hours service, as well as their experience with those claims that DSB handles from beginning to end – satisfaction rates are high for both, at 100% and over 98%, respectively.

DSB’s other role at the IBC Awards has been as a sponsor. The company’s continued support for the brokerage award is reflective of its broader focus in working with brokers to provide them and their clients with access to claims services, while supporting the broader broker community.

“It was important for DSB to give back to the insurance industry, and recognize small and medium-sized brokerages,” said Banga. “It’s a small part in our recognition of the brokers who are excelling in their field.”

Taking part in an event that celebrates all the achievers from the Canadian insurance industry is likewise meaningful for DSB, he continued.

“It’s important to recognize individuals and organizations [in the industry],” Banga told Insurance Business. “We should celebrate excellence, and this is one way to do that.”
