Intact Insurance has joined forces with top Canadian financial and insurance institutions to launch the Legendary Builders initiative, a collaborative sponsorship model designed to support the country’s emerging athletic talent.

The program provides funding, training facilities, mentorship, and competitive development opportunities for competitors aged 12 to 30. The coalition brings competitors together in Quebec City for the 2027 Canada Games, running from February 27 through March 14, 2027.

The Legendary Builders model represents a departure from traditional corporate sports sponsorships. Rather than competing for exclusive category rights, participating financial institutions pool resources to maximize their financial and structural impact on youth sports infrastructure across the country. Louis Gagnon, Chief Executive Officer of Intact Canada, emphasized that investing in youth sports strengthens regional communities. He noted that the Canada Games celebrate determination and teamwork, adding that Intact is proud to contribute to a joint framework that creates long-term value for young Canadians.

Grassroots Roots and Multisport Scale

The 2027 Canada Games mark the event’s 60th anniversary, returning to Quebec City, where the inaugural multisport competition was staged in 1967. The event will feature over 3,500 athletes and coaches across 22 sports. To preserve the amateur focus of the event, participants cannot be current members of senior national or next-generation national teams.

Olympic short-track speed skater William Dandjinou, an Intact-sponsored athlete and former Canada Games competitor, credited early multi-sport event experiences with shaping his elite athletic trajectory. He expressed pride in seeing major insurers step forward to ensure future competitors receive the same developmental opportunities.

An Expanding Sports Sponsorship Portfolio

This partnership builds on Intact’s two-decade history of supporting Canadian sports programs. The insurer holds naming rights to the Centre de glaces Intact Assurance in Quebec City—Eastern Canada's primary indoor ice oval—which will host figure skating, speed skating, and ringette during the 2027 Games.

Beyond amateur sports, Intact has systematically expanded its footprint across professional leagues and international multi-sport organizations. The carrier maintains a multi-year partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee covering both the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games and the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympic Games. Additionally, Intact maintains long-term support for Speed Skating Canada, spanning grassroots club programs up to the national senior team. The firm has also secured founding partner status for prominent women's professional organizations, including the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) and the Northern Super League, Canada's first professional women's soccer league.

Through its involvement in the Legendary Builders program, Intact reinforces its core corporate philosophy that targeted private-sector investments in youth athletic development build healthier, more resilient local communities.
