Nominations are now open for the fourth annual Insurance Business Canada Awards (IBCAs), the largest independent awards event for the Canadian insurance industry.

Organized by the publishers of industry-leading title Insurance Business Canada, the IBCAs are the benchmark of excellence for the nation’s most outstanding brokers, insurers, underwriters, MGAs and risk managers.

Awards will be given out across over 21 individual and organizational categories, including Brokerage of the Year, The Cansure Award for Insurance Broker of the Year, The DKI Canada Award for P&C Insurer of the Year, The Armour Insurance Award for MGA of the Year and The Winmar Award for Excellence in Claims Service.

This year, Insurance Business Canada is also introducing two new individual categories, namely CEO of the Year and Underwriter of the Year.

For the award recipients themselves, winning an IBCA in front of hundreds of their industry peers is a career highlight that leaves a lasting impact and a chance to reflect and acknowledge the great work that’s been done across the industry.

“Our insurance industry is working harder than it’s ever worked before,” shared Travelers CEO Heather Masterson, who won the Steamatic Canada Award for Woman of Distinction last year. “The fact that we have an opportunity to pause, take a moment and just acknowledge all the great work that’s been done in the industry is fantastic. There’s a lot to be said about reward and recognition and it leads to engagement within our companies and within the industry so thank you to Insurance Business for doing that.”

The IBCAs follow a comprehensive selection process, involving two months of nominations, industry research and finalist submissions in the lead up to the night itself. A judging panel comprising independent experts and thought leaders in the insurance and finance industries determines the award winners.

Finalists will be announced in IBC magazine and online in September. Winners will be revealed live during the black-tie awards ceremony on Thursday, November 28, 2019 in The Liberty Grand Toronto.

Nominations are open until August 12, 2019 11:59 PM EST. The full list of categories is available at www.ibawards.ca.
